Welcome / Willkommen
…to our “little cloister”, where we…
EXPLORE WISDOM TEACHINGS FOR CONTEMPORARY LIVING
Drs. Almut & Chuck Huff
with little one
We are seekers, pilgrims, scholars, teachers, practitioners and facilitators; Benedictine Oblates, global citizens, free spirits and - - late parents.
Our “cloister” is the place where we “cloister” together as a family of three and from where we reach out into the communion of like minded seekers, who long for a deeper way of life.
Together we explore an active-contemplative life style, and the teachings of mystics, monastics and wisdom seekers across religious and spiritual traditions from Rumi to Hildegard to Kierkegaard. The insights we gain we share in our writings and teachings and here with you.
Our mission @ CloisterSeminars is to welcome kindred spirits from any or no religious background and to offer a place of solitude in a busy world.
So if you are, like us, a weary pilgrim, longing spirit, wounded healer, and wisdom seekers you might find some joy here.
We would be honored to have you travel along with us!

We will learn about Hildegard’s ecological spirituality and ponder together how to find our place in this world. This will be a lecture-and-discussion style event, half colloquium, half mini retreat. You may read my paper beforehand or simply come as you are.

October 6 — Moral Mondays First Gathering
(via Zoom, 6:30–8pm CT)
with Drs. Chuck Huff & Almut Furchert
Join us for these first Monday of the month live meetings where we reflect on current issues in moral, psychological, and philosophical terms. Grounded in our latest book Taking Moral Action and in real-world examples, these gatherings are meant as a protected space—a cloistered circle—where we can speak directly and unveiled, share our fears and hopes, and take courage together to build a better future.
The format is simple: Chuck introduces a short news, opinion, or book piece; we have a free-flowing discussion; and we end with silence to hold our sorrows and hopes for the world—closing with a blessing.
Moral Mondays carry deep resonance: from East German Monday evening prayer services that helped bring down the Berlin Wall, to Rev. William Barber’s “Moral Monday” protests that reshaped politics in North Carolina and beyond.
